Simon Harris Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Fine Gael

I am advised by Revenue that the estimated first and full year cost to the Exchequer of increasing the Dependent Relative Tax Credit from €305 to €1,000 is €82m and €92m respectively.

These estimates are based on tax returns for the latest year available, currently 2023, and adjusted for estimated population change in the interim (the period 2023 to 2026). Estimates for 2027, based on 2024 underlying data, will be available on the Revenue website in the coming weeks. Costs for increases other than those shown in the Ready Reckoner may be calculated on a straight-line basis where the changes are relatively small adjustments.
