Kevin Boxer Moran Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation Independent

Health and Safety responsibility is a key component of the role of supervisors in the OPW, for which they receive ongoing support and training.

The number of WTE qualified health and safety advisors that are directly employed by the OPW as of 15th July 2026 are as follows:

1 x Health and Safety Advisor, at Assistant Principal Officer grade.

15 x Safety Officers working in business units across the OPW in Flood Risk Management and Heritage. These safety officers are employed at Service Manager grades (State Industrial Grade).
