I am advised that responsibility for Commercial Property and Infrastructure in County Clare is the responsibility of Shannon Commercial Properties, the modern successor to Shannon Development's property portfolio, and is overseen by Shannon Airport Group, under the remit of the Department of Transport.
In relation to the two enterprise agencies under the aegis of my Department, IDA Ireland and Enterprise Ireland, I can confirm that IDA Ireland does not have any lands or buildings in Clare. Enterprise Ireland does have one vacant two storey detached commercial building in Shannon Town Centre.
However, IDA Ireland, through its Mid-West regional office and its Property Department, has a strong relationship and works closely with Shannon Airport Group when property requirements are requested which is evident from the number of clients that have been supported with property solutions in this location.
IDA also works closely with the regional stakeholders, including local authorities and the private sector in the Mid-West region in marketing of appropriate and cost-effective property solutions that meet the needs of its client companies including existing brownfield sites that align with investor requirements.
The Roche site in Clarecastle is an example of this approach, where IDA Ireland is actively engaged with Roche and Clare County Council and continues to market the site internationally. The most recent strategic engagement on the future of the former Roche Clarecastle site was in September last year, when Roche senior leadership met with IDA Ireland and Clare County Council to review remediation progress and discuss the future development and marketing of the site. Roche has also appointed property advisers to support the marketing of the 88-acre site to prospective investors.
