The school referred to by the Deputy was approved to enter the Department’s pipeline of school buildings under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme for a project providing three special educational needs classrooms. This project is devolved to the school authority for delivery.
I can confirm that Departmental officials approved this project to stage 2a (developed design) and are awaiting this stage report. When the Stage 2a is submitted the project will be subject to a detailed review from both a technical and cost perspective, in accordance with the Department’s Infrastructure Guidelines.
The timeframe for progression of the project will depend on the submission of the Stage 2a report and the outcome of the Department's technical and cost review. Accordingly, it is not possible at this stage to provide a definitive timeline for the project to move to the next stage.
