The School Transport Scheme is a significant operation managed by Bus Éireann on behalf of the Department of Education and Youth.

Bus Éireann has advised that student who applied for school transport is not eligible for transport under the terms of the School Transport Scheme.

An appeal for the child referred to by the Deputy was received on 12 August 2026. A request has been submitted by the Board to Bus Éireann for a report on the matter.

When received, the Board will liaise directly with the appellant advising them of the date their appeal will be considered by the Board.

Decisions made by, or on behalf of, the Department of Education and Youth regarding the provision of school transport services and/or grant-aid under the terms of the School Transport Schemes may be appealed to the School Transport Appeals Board.

Parents or Guardians of children, or children who have reached the age of 18 years, may make an appeal.
