Darragh O'Brien Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment Fianna Fáil

The Government is committed to ensuring a secure, affordable and sustainable energy system for all consumers, and timely introduction of the Renewable Heat Obligation (RHO) is a key priority for Government.

The RHO design process was informed by two phases of detailed analysis, multiple stakeholder events and extensive industry engagement. Detail in relation to each phase of analysis, including a full impact assessment is available at: www.gov.ie/en/department-of-climate-energy-and-the-environment/publications/renewable-heat-obligation/.

Priority drafting of the RHO Bill is now nearing completion. Once finalised, I intend to submit the final scheme, including detail in relation to potential costs to the consumer, to Government seeking approval and priority publication as part of the Autumn legislative programme.
