James Browne Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage Fianna Fáil

Building regulations require a minimum renewable energy ratio (RER) for all new dwellings in all residential developments regardless of size.

Renewable energy requirements are technology neutral and include solar energy or alternative renewable energy technologies.

The RER is defined and calculated using SEAI’s Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP).
