The Pyrite Resolution Act 2013 provides the statutory framework for the establishment of the Pyrite Resolution Board and the implementation of the Pyrite Remediation Scheme (Scheme), which is administered by the Board with the support of the Housing Agency.

The Scheme applies to dwellings affected by significant damage attributable to pyritic heave arising from the presence of reactive pyrite in the sub-floor hardcore material. The terms and conditions of the Scheme, including the remediation works covered, are available on the Pyrite Resolution Board's website at pyriteboard.ie

The management and operation of the Scheme, including the assessment of applications and the determination of the scope of remediation works in individual cases, are matters for the Board. Neither I nor my Department have a role in the assessment of individual applications under the Scheme.

There is currently no separate Departmental support scheme available for homeowners whose external walls may be affected by pyrite but which do not qualify for remediation under the Scheme. Homeowners seeking information in relation to their circumstances may contact the Board or the Housing Agency for guidance.
