Christopher O'Sullivan Minister of State at the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage Fianna Fáil

My Department has no direct role with either of the buildings referred to, at No. 12 or No. 29 Fitzwilliam Street Lower.

The project to restore No. 12 Fitzwilliam Street Lower, which is being undertaken directly by the ESB, will be a welcome revitalisation of part of the original Georgian era fabric of this architecturally important street. I understand that the Irish Heritage Trust (IHT), which receives funding from my Department, has partnered with the ESB in order to ultimately develop No. 12 as a visitor attraction. However, responsibility for the initial restoration of the building in advance of its development in this manner rests solely with the ESB.
