Dara Calleary Minister for Social Protection Fianna Fáil

The Department for Children, Disability and Equality has policy and legal responsibility for family leaves, including eligibility to Parent's Leave. My Department has responsibility for the associated benefit, with a provision of over €123 million for 2026.

The provision of fostering services is a matter for Tusla. This includes the provision of supports, such as financial supports, that are required by either the foster carers or the foster child. The consideration of supports for foster carers is a matter for Tusla and the Department for Children, Disability and Equality.
