2419. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration if beneficiaries of temporary protection residing in modular accommodation at Clonminch may remain in situ while arranging a mortgage and purchasing a home, provided they vacate the accommodation before formally applying for the temporary protection transition scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The rapid build sites, including the site at Clonmich, referred to by the Deputy, are currently outside of the scope of the commercial accommodation wind down. As such, residents are free to make future plans for accommodation while remaining in their rapid build units. This can include the necessary measures to source and purchase their own homes.

Rapid build residents will be able to apply for the new Temporary Protection Transitional Scheme when the application process becomes available. It is anticipated that the application process will be available soon. Updates and details of eligibility criteria will be available on Gov.ie. In order to meet the conditions of the scheme, however, they must first surrender their unit and leave state-provided accommodation. This same requirement also applies to those in commercial accommodation.
