The Department has and continues to communicate with local authorities regarding accommodation arrangements for beneficiaries of temporary protection who are transitioning from State-supported accommodation.
The information provided to local authorities is consistent with that being communicated directly to affected beneficiaries through the Irish Red Cross (IRC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This information outlines the accommodation options available to beneficiaries, including sourcing accommodation independently or applying for continued State-supported accommodation where specific needs arise.
Local authorities in areas where accommodation centres are impacted, including Offaly County Council, are kept informed through ongoing engagement and communications issued by the Department. The Community Engagement Team circulated information about the changes to local elected representatives and officials in Offaly County Council on 21 July and 01 September 2026. These communications provide updates on the phased transition from State-supported accommodation, available supports and the application processes for continued accommodation.
Relevant information relating to accommodation, available supports and the application processes for ongoing accommodation are published on www.gov.ie/ukraineupdates.
The Department will continue to engage with local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure they are kept informed of developments as the transition from State-supported accommodation progresses.
