During their period in IPAS accommodation, people may have to move to alternative centres for a variety of reasons, including family needs, renovations, regulatory or compliance issues at their accommodation, and pressures on capacity within the system overall.
In order to protect the privacy of people resident in International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) accommodation, the Department does not provide detailed information about relocations between IPAS centres.
We appreciate that relocating can be very disruptive for people. IPAS is in contact with residents and centre management to keep them informed of relocations plans and to offer support. IPAS and the HSE work together to try to facilitate continuity of care for residents with a serious medical need. A resident can tell IPAS if they have a serious medical issue by emailing ipasinbox@justice.ie.
In so far as possible, the IPAS team will take these issues into consideration when allocating the resident new accommodation. However, it is important to understand that suitable accommodation in the same area may not be available. IPAS engages directly with people accommodated in IPAS centres through the dedicated customer service team ipasinbox@justice.ie.
