Deputy Brian Brennan asked the Minister for Defence the total amount her Department and Departmental agencies have spent in 2025 and to date in 2026 on social media and web advertising; the proportion this is of her Department's advertising budget; and if she will make a statement on the matter. There are three bodies under the aegis of my Department; the Army Pensions Board, the Ombudsman for the Defence Forces and the External Oversight Body of the Defence Forces (EOB), which was placed on a Statutory basis on 1 December 2024.

The total expenditure incurred by my Department and the bodies under its aegis on social media and web advertising in 2025 was €26,199.61. This expenditure related to the Civil Defence Volunteer Recruitment Campaign.

No expenditure has been incurred on social media or web advertising by my Department or bodies to date in 2026.
