Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of FOI requests his Department, and each agency under his auspices, received in each year 2020 to 2025, and to date in 2026; the number that were refused on original decision; the number for which reviews were sought and the number of those reviews whereby the original decision was amended; the number for which subsequent appeals were submitted; the number of those appeals which resulted in an amendment to the original decision; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The information requested in respect of my Department is set out in the table below. The figures for the current year relate to the year to 26 August 2026.

The information relating to the bodies under the aegis of my Department is an operational matter for the bodies concerned, and has been referred to them for direct reply within 10 working days.

It should be noted that an internal review or appeal may be decided in a different year from that in which the original FOI request was received. Accordingly, the figures in the different categories are not necessarily directly comparable on a year by year basis.
