The Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) which is a key element of the current CAP Strategic Plan provides grants to farmers to invest in their farm businesses through building and/or improving a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holdings.

TAMS is a demand led scheme with a limited budget. All approvals do not necessarily proceed to completion, therefore, all costings are an estimation based on applications received.

Based on the reference costs for applications submitted and approved using 2025 as a reference period amounted to €450.3m, the estimated additional exchequer costs are as follows if this reference cost was increased by 10, 20 & 30% respectively:

€450.3m @ 10 % = €45m with an average grant rate of 50% = €22.5m net cost

€450.3m @ 20 % = €90m with an average grant rate of 50% = €45m net cost

€450.3m @ 30 % = €135m with an average grant rate of 50% = €67.5m net cost
