The new campaign, which I launched on the 28 August 2026, called Be Emergency Ready, builds on the Be Winter Ready and Be Summer Ready campaigns, which have provided practical seasonal preparedness advice to households across Ireland for more than a decade.

The Be Emergency Ready booklet is published by the Office of Emergency Planning in my Department, on behalf of the Government Task Force on Emergency Planning, supported by Local Government Ireland.

Following the launch, approximately 26,000 booklets were distributed across all 31 local authorities through libraries, Public Participation Networks (PPNs), public counters, and internally through emergency planning staff.

From late September 2026, every household in Ireland will receive a copy of the booklet through a nationwide postal distribution programme of 2.2 million booklets.

The booklet will also be available online on the gov.ie platform, together with additional preparedness information and downloadable resources, including the preparedness checklist and emergency information pages that can be printed and used in the home.
