Deputy Alan Kelly asked the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality the number and value of applications received by her Department from childcare providers in County Tipperary under the capital funding scheme in each of the years since 2023 to date in 2026; and the number approved, in tabular form. The Building Blocks Improvement Grant, which ran in 2023, received 33 applications from Tipperary, with a combined value of €1,923,353. Of these, 7 applications from Tipperary were approved, with a total application value of €485,954.46.

The Building Blocks Expansion Grant, which ran in 2024, received 3 applications from Tipperary, with a combined value of €112,704. None of these applications were approved.

The Building Blocks Extension Grant Scheme, which opened in 2025, received two applications from Tipperary, with an application value of €609,955. Both of these projects were approved.

The Department's most recent capital scheme, the Building Blocks Extension Scheme Phase 2, received two applications from Tipperary, with a total application value of €576,311. To note, these applications are currently being appraised by our colleagues in the OPW.

Separately, the State-led early learning and childcare capital programme has received one preliminary appraisal form for a project in Tipperary. This project is not at approval in principle stage, so cost analysis has not been undertaken.
