The Minister asked the HSE to respond directly on Beaumont Hospital’s overcrowding assessment and preparedness for increased winter emergency attendances.

Deputy Denise Mitchell asked the Minister for Health whether the current level of emergency department overcrowding and admitted patients awaiting inpatient beds at Beaumont Hospital has been assessed as part of the HSE’s preparations for the 2026/2027 winter period; the assessment that has been made of the hospital’s ability to manage an anticipated increase in emergency department attendances during winter; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
