Tobacco Control Measures

Summary

The Minister referred questions on HSE verification and records of applicants’ tax-clearance status for tobacco and nicotine product licences to the HSE.

3465. Deputy Ruairí Ó Murchú asked the Minister for Health in relation to the HSE’s national environmental health service online portal for registering tobacco products and nicotine inhaling products, whether the HSE verifies the tax-clearance status of every applicant before granting a licence; whether this verification is carried out automatically through Revenue or manually by HSE staff; the records retained by the HSE to demonstrate that tax clearance was verified before a licence was granted; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond directly to the Deputy as soon as possible.
