The Health (Provision of Contraception Prescribing Service in Retail Pharmacy Businesses) Bill 2026 was signed into law by the President on 21st July 2026. The Community Pharmacy Expansion Implementation Oversight Group, which was established in September 2024 to oversee the delivery of pharmacist prescribing services, is currently engaged in leading the development of the necessary regulatory, clinical and operational enablers to support the delivery of contraception prescribing by pharmacists.
