The Minister referred a query on whether Galway brain-injury patients require transfer to Beaumont Hospital due to limited neurosurgical services to the HSE.

Deputy Duncan Smith asked the Minister for Health to clarify whether due to a lack of neurosurgeons in Galway, individuals who suffer a traumatic brain injury whose closest hospital is Galway University Hospital are forced to be sent to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for adequate treatment.
