Health Services Staff

Summary

Questions on paramedic recruitment and promised ambulance shifts in west Clare were referred to the HSE for a direct response.

3999. Deputy Cathal Crowe asked the Minister for Health the reason fully qualified paramedics currently sitting on active HSE and NAS recruitment panels have not been offered formal positions to fill critical vacancies and short-term absences at Kilrush ambulance station; the active steps being taken to draw down from existing panels specifically for west Clare; and if she will make a statement on the matter. 4000. Deputy Cathal Crowe asked the Minister for Health the status of the National Ambulance Service (NAS) staffing resources allocated to County Clare; the reason the promised additional 12-hour ambulance shifts for both Kilrush and Ennistymon stations have not been fully implemented on active rosters; if NAS management intends to part-crew any of these positions; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 3999 and 4000 together.

As these are service matters I have asked the Health Service Executive (HSE) to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
