The Minister provided staffing figures for eight agencies, noting Pobal staff are not public servants and headcount increases require budgetary approval.
4170. Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht the number of staff, whole-time equivalents employed in each agency or regulatory body under his Department’s remit who were considered to be public service personnel in June 2016 and in June 2026; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The table below provides the information requested by the Deputy. There are eight agencies under the remit of my Department. The Charities Regulator, Pobal, Water Safety Ireland and the Western Development Commission have been under the remit of my Department since it was established in July 2017. It should be noted that Pobal staff are not public servants. The remaining agencies transferred to my Department following the transfer of the Gaeltacht function in June 2025. As the Deputy will be aware staffing numbers are published each year in the Revised Estimates with any headcount increases agreed as part of the budgetary process.
