Summary

Under CLÁR 2026, Monaghan received 14 Measure 1 applications seeking nearly €900,000, none under Measure 2; decisions are expected in coming months.

4174. Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht the details of applications submitted from County Monaghan under CLÁR 2026, including the project, applicant and amount sought in each case; the current status of each application; when funding decisions will issue, in tabular form; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Dara Calleary Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht Fianna Fáil

The CLÁR programme provides funding under a number of different measures for small-scale infrastructural projects in designated rural areas. Last year over €14 million was approved for 238 projects under the programme, with funding being provided for community facilities and amenities, community vehicles and specific support for island communities. This included almost €664,000 for 11 projects in Monaghan.

The 2026 CLÁR programme was launched on 10th March.

The measures funded under CLÁR 2026 are:

Measure 1: Developing Community Facilities & Amenities

Measure 2: Mobility, Cancer Care, First Responder and Meals on Wheels Transport

Measure 3: Our Living Islands

The closing date for all measures have now passed and my officials are advancing well with the recording and assessment of applications across all three measures.

While details of individual applicants are generally not published until the assessment process has been completed, I can confirm that no applications were received under measure 2 in Monaghan and that the maximum number of 14 applications have been received under measure 1 seeking funding of almost €900,000

I look forward to announcing the successful projects across all measures in the coming months.
