The Passport Service is responding well to demand during the busy summer period and has issued over 675,000 passports to date in 2026.

The advertised passport processing times for applications are:

• Online simple adult renewal - 10 working days

• Online child/complex adult renewal - 15 working days

• Passport Assist - 6 weeks

The Passport Service is processing renewal applications well within advertised turnaround times and the majority of adult renewal applications are being processed within 2-4 working days.

The Passport Online service offers citizens the ability to apply online for their passport 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Over 97% of all passport applications are now made through Passport Online which is available to 100% of all applicants globally.

I would ask the Deputy to encourage their constituents who are travelling this year, particularly those with young children who require their first passport, to apply online and in plenty of time.
