660. Simon Harris Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Fine Gael

I am advised by Revenue that the annual amounts generated by the Bank Levy are as follows (please see second column) and a further €200 million is targeted for 2026 (due by 20th October).:

In the third column the 'Number of liable Institutions' is displayed. While the number of institutions liable to the bank levy from 2024 to the present time is expressly set out in the legislation covering its current form (as set out in section 126AB of the Stamp Duties Consolidation Act 1999), the previous form of the levy that applied between 2014 and 2023 (as set out in section 126AA of the same act) did not specifically identify the liable institutions. Therefore, I have been advised by Revenue that in order to protect taxpayer confidentiality and to adhere to its statistical disclosure control protocol, whereby values of less than 10 observations are presented as “<10” in Revenue statistics, the data on the number of liable institutions sought in this question for 2014 to 2023 inclusive can only be provided in this form.
