Credit Unions

803. Simon Harris Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Fine Gael

I am not aware of any specific proposals having been submitted to my Department in relation to this matter and, accordingly, no detailed assessment has been undertaken of any potential legislative or regulatory implications. There was extensive stakeholder engagement during the development of the Credit Union (Amendment) Act 2023 and this issue was not raised at that stage.

My officials remain available to engage with relevant stakeholders on matters relating to credit unions, including the potential for credit unions to provide solicitor client-account services.
