Departmental Expenditure

1007. Deputy Ged Nash asked the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment to confirm both in percentage and in clear monetary terms the value of the ‘levy’ on his Department's expenditure, that was required to be communicated to the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation on or before the deadline of 17 July 2026, (details supplied) and if he will make a statement on the matter. Peter Burke Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Fine Gael

My Department received correspondence on 23 April 2026 from the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation regarding the application of an Expenditure Levy. An amount of €8 million has been applied to the Department's 2027 Vote in respect of the Government's Expenditure Levy.

My Department's Current Expenditure allocation in 2026 is €619m when once-off funding for the year is stripped out. The application of the levy reduces our baseline allocation by €1.27% to €611 million. This reduction in Current Expenditure will form the basis of the 2027 Budget negotiations between my Department and the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation.
