Neither my Department nor Fáilte Ireland has any involvement in supporting the former Dublin Writers Museum on Parnell Square following its closure.
Responsibility for the museum transferred to Fáilte Ireland in 2012 and the museum ceased operations in March 2020.
Following an assessment of options for the long-term preservation of, and public access to, the museum’s collection, it was determined that the Museum of Literature Ireland (MoLI) would provide the most appropriate permanent home for the collection.
The museum premises subsequently transferred from Fáilte Ireland to the ownership and management of Dublin City Council. Accordingly, neither my Department nor Fáilte Ireland has any plans for the future use of the building.
