1195. Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Education and Youth if assistance will be provided to a school (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. [60756/26]

The school referred to by the Deputy was approved to enter the Department’s pipeline of school buildings under the Additional School Accommodation Scheme for a project providing one special educational needs base and one special education tuition room. This project is devolved to the school authority for delivery.

The school has received its full furniture and equipment grant allocation in line with the accommodation approved under the project. This funding was calculated in accordance with the Department's standard funding arrangements and the approved project scope.

The approved project brief did not include the construction of a new staff room. As suitable appliances were already available within the existing staff room, there was no requirement to replace them as part of the project. The only work required was to connect the existing staff room to the new extension, which was accommodated within the design and fitted furniture allowance.

Provision for storage has also been included through fitted furniture, with the associated costs covered as part of the fitted furniture allowance.

The new sensory room has been supported through the standard level of grant aid available to schools for this purpose. In addition, grant funding is available towards the provision of suitable playground equipment, in line with the Department's standard arrangements.

The school has been advised that grant aid for the purchase and installation of appropriate play equipment is allowable under the scheme, and arrangements are currently being made for this funding to be issued. This additional support will further enhance the facilities available to the school.
