Michael Moynihan Minister of State at the Department of Education and Youth Fianna Fáil

The School Transport Scheme is a significant operation managed by Bus Éireann on behalf of the Department of Education and Youth.

The purpose of my Department's School Transport Scheme is, having regard to available resources, to support the transport to and from school of children who reside remote from their nearest school.

Bus Eireann has confirmed that the pupil mentioned by the Deputy was incorrectly categorised as not eligible due to a map error on their system. This has been re-examined and they have now been deemed mainstream eligible, and a ticket has been released to this pupil and will arrive at their home address in the coming days.
