Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Health the number of patients estimated to be eligible for treatment with skyclarys (omaveloxolone); if additional clinical appointments or resources are being provided to the National Ataxia Clinic at Tallaght University Hospital or other relevant services to facilitate the assessment and treatment of eligible patients; whether any capacity constraints that could delay access to the medication have been identified; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for decisions on the pricing and reimbursement of medicines and medical devices; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
