Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Health if her Department or the HSE has engaged with a company (details supplied) and the relevant neurology and ataxia services regarding the roll-out of skyclarys (omaveloxolone) following its approval for reimbursement; if a national implementation or treatment pathway has been agreed; the arrangements being made to ensure eligible patients can be assessed and prescribed the treatment without unnecessary delay; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for decisions on the pricing and reimbursement of medicines and medical devices; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
