Research in the state is funded through a number of mechanisms, from core funding in higher education institutions, private sector, European research funding as well as funding through state agencies. Publicly funded research of this nature is in the main under the remit of the Department of Health and the Health Research Board.
There is no distinct research project funded by Taighde Éireann - Research Ireland on chronic migraine taking place currently. RINN Medical devices, RINN Advanced Therapies and RINN Pharma & Biopharma were all launched in June 2026 and represent a €176m investment in medical, pharma and health sciences, bringing together experts in relevant fields from across the higher education sector.
