Education Schemes
The Minister said HEAR and DARE are IUA-run schemes, so her Department lacks the requested applicant and acceptance data.
1501. Deputy Donna McGettigan asked the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science the number and percentages of HEAR-DARE scheme applicants from fee-paying schools compared to those from DEIS schools, and other non-fee-paying schools, in each of the years 2020 to 2025 and to date in 2026, in tabular form. I propose to take Questions Nos. 1501 and 1502 together.
The HEAR and DARE admissions schemes are offered by the Irish Universities Association (IUA) on behalf of the Higher Education Institutions with applications processed through the CAO. To assist Deputies with information on these schemes I facilitated an IUA information session in Leinster House in May.
However, HEAR and DARE are not Departmental schemes and my Department has no responsibility or remit over the schemes. Therefore, the data requested is not available via my Department.
Any query relating to the scheme eligibility or administration would need to be directed to the IUA.
