Darragh O'Brien Minister for Transport Fianna Fáil

As the Deputy will be aware, BusConnects is a transformative programme of investment in the bus system, providing better services to the public across our cities. It represents the largest investment in the bus system in the history of the State and is managed by the National Transport Authority (NTA).

A key element of the BusConnects programme is the rollout of the Network Redesign and since 2021, we have rolled out the first seven phases in Dublin which have provided a range of high frequency spines and new local, orbital, and radial routes. Recent progress has been made on BusConnects Dublin, with the first core bus corridor, from Liffey Valley to the City Centre, entering construction in May 2026, while the second, Ballymun-Finglas to the City Centre, will enter construction later this year.

Overall, BusConnects will significantly enhance bus services in our cities, making travel more convenient, efficient and sustainable, and I look forward to its full implementation.

The NTA has responsibility for the planning and development of public transport infrastructure, including BusConnects. Noting the NTA's responsibility in the matter, I have referred the Deputy's specific question to the NTA for a direct reply.
