Darragh O'Brien Minister for Transport Fianna Fáil

I propose to take Questions Nos. 266, 267, 270 and 278 together.

As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to Active Travel. Funding is administered through the National Transport Authority (NTA), who, in partnership with local authorities, have responsibility for the selection and development of specific projects in each local authority area. I also have responsibility for overall policy and exchequer funding in relation to the National Roads Programme. Under the Roads Acts 1993-2015 and in line with the National Development Plan (NDP), the operation and management of individual national roads is a matter for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII), in conjunction with the local authorities concerned. This is also subject to the Infrastructure Guidelines and the necessary statutory approvals.

Noting the roles of TII and the NTA in the N25 Midleton to Youghal Transport Project and the Ballinacurra to Midleton Pedestrian and Cycle Route, I have referred your questions to both agencies for a direct reply. Please advise my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
