Deputy Paul Lawless asked the Minister for Transport whether consideration will be given to revisiting previously approved infrastructure proposals for the replacement of level crossings at Knockaphunta (XM250) and Kilnageer (XM240) in County Mayo, where planning permission for bridge infrastructure was previously granted but the projects did not proceed. As Minister of Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding of public transport. The operation, maintenance and renewal of the rail network and stations on the network, including the level crossings referred to, is a matter for Iarnród Éireann in the first instance.
