Seán Canney Minister of State at the Department of Transport Independent

I confirm that the old Coast Guard Rocket House at Ballydavid is still in use by my Department, specifically by the Irish Coast Guard (IRCG). It houses critical radio equipment for the Coast Guard Volunteer Alert and Notification (Paging) system as part of the IRCG’s search and rescue operations. As such, it would not be appropriate to install public toilets at this location having regard to current usage.

The OPW manages properties on behalf of the IRCG and I will write to the OPW to consider if it is feasible to install a flagpole at this location.
