Simon Harris Tánaiste and Minister for Finance Fine Gael

I propose to take Questions Nos. 411 and 412 together.

As the Deputy may be aware, the data on the number of taxpayer units benefitting from the Single Person Child Carer Credit (SPCCC) is available in Revenue’s ‘Cost of Tax Expenditures’ publication which is available on its website at:

www.revenue.ie/en/corporate/documents/statistics/tax-expenditures/costs-tax-expenditures.pdf.

Turning to the Deputy’s proposal regarding increasing the SPCCC and the additional standard rate band, I am advised by Revenue that the estimated full-year costs to the Exchequer are set out in the table below:

These costs are estimates for 2027 based on Revenue’s micro-simulation tool, Tax Modeller, using actual data for the latest year available, currently 2024, adjusted for income and employment trends in the interim.
