439. Deputy Michael Murphy asked the Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation if the Office of Public Works is involved in the maintenance, refurbishment or capital development of Carrick-on-Suir and Cashel courthouses; whether the OPW has been requested by the Courts Service or any other body to assess or undertake works at either property; and whether the OPW would be available to assist in progressing necessary improvement works. Comment on this
The Office of Public Works (OPW) has carried out minor maintenance works in Cashel Courthouse on behalf of the Courts Service.
The OPW met with the Courts Service to conduct a high level review of the condition of Carrick-on-Suir Courthouse. There were no new requests for maintenance works arising out of this meeting, and the OPW has not carried out works in this building within the last five years.
The responsibility for maintenance and capital development of both Cashel and Carrick-on-Suir Courthouses remains with the Courts Service, with OPW continuing to provide professional services as required.
