Firstly, my thoughts are with all workers facing potential redundancy and I understand this is very difficult time for those involved.
My Department received a notification of proposed collective redundancies from Aer Lingus on 16 July 2026. My Department has not received any correspondence from the second organisation referred to in the Deputy's question in respect of this notification of proposed collective redundancies.
Under the Protection of Employment Act 1977, as amended, employers contemplating collective redundancies must undertake a 30-day information and consultation process with employees' representatives. This is in addition to notifying the Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment at least 30 days before the first redundancy takes effect.
