Deputy Peadar Tóibín asked the Minister for Education and Youth the number of applications for places in Irish-medium post-primary schools that were unsuccessful in each of the past five years, by school and county; and the measures being taken to ensure sufficient Gaelcholáiste places are available to meet demand. My department does not centrally collate data on unsuccessful school applications at the level requested by the Deputy. However, there is only one Gaelcholáiste recorded as being oversubscribed based on returns received from the 2025/26 school's data collection survey.
