Hildegarde Naughton Minister for Education and Youth Fine Gael

I wish to advise the Deputy that additional capacity for the school referred to is being provided within surplus accommodation in a local primary school. Repurposing works are currently being undertaken in the primary school building to provide suitable accommodation for both schools.

The repurposing project is being delivered under the Department’s SEN Reconfiguration and Modular Accommodation programme which facilitates the progression of the project as quickly as possible. The programme involves the use of Project Management supports which is designed to enable the accommodation to be provided in a timely manner and help ease the administrative workload for school authorities in relation to the management and delivery of projects. This is a collaborative process between the Project Manager, School Authority and the Department.

The repurposing works, when completed, will provide four classrooms and associated ancillary accommodation for the school in question and every effort is being made to ensure that the works are completed as quickly as possible.
