Skyclarys access for patients

Summary

Deputy Collins seeks immediate clarification on access to Skyclarys for Friedreich’s ataxia patients; the Chief Whip says Government time is already allocated to scheduled legislation.

It has been 23 days since the drug Skyclarys was approved for roll-out to Friedreich's ataxia patients. To date, not one patient has been contacted in regard to how they can receive this life-changing drug. Can we have a debate in the Dáil today to clear that matter up?

Comment on this

I have listened to the five requests from the Opposition benches. The Government time this week is allocated to two important pieces of legislation. The Minister, Deputy O'Callaghan, will take the Garda Síochána (Powers) Bill 2026 this afternoon and tomorrow the Minister of State, Deputy Canney, will take the National Vehicle and Driver File, Road Traffic and Roads Bill 2026, Second Stage, for over three and a half hours. The Opposition is entitled to put down whatever it wants under its own Private Members' business and has had two opportunities this week. The Order of Business stands.
