Departmental Funding

Summary

The Minister referred questions about HSE-funded organisations’ safeguarding oversight to the HSE, with Tusla input on child protection.

1132. Deputy Carol Nolan asked the Minister for Health the oversight mechanisms in place to ensure that organisations receiving HSE funding do not promote or endorse practices that may present safeguarding risks to infants; the specific oversight applied in respect of an organisation (details supplied); and whether her Department will review the organisations funding in view of recent concerns raised by healthcare professionals and elected representatives. As this is an operational matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the deputy directly, as soon as possible, with input from Tusla as child safeguarding falls under their responsibility.
