General Practitioner Services

Summary

The Minister referred questions about a Tipperary practice’s eligibility for the social deprivation support grant to the HSE for response.

1173. Deputy Mattie McGrath asked the Minister for Health the reason a doctors practice in Tipperary did not qualify for the social deprivation practice support grant for 2025-2027 despite serving an area identified as experiencing significant socio-economic disadvantage under the Pobal HP (Haase-Pratschke) Deprivation Index; whether the HSE considered deprivation at practice level or solely at individual GP panel level; the reason it was assessed at individual doctor level and not the practice as a whole; and if this decision will be reviewed. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
