1254. Ambulance services in Dublin are primarily provided by Dublin Fire Brigade (DFB). The HSE National Ambulance Service (NAS) is the main provider of ambulances across the rest of the country and does provide some ambulance services in the capital on request as resources allow.
DFB’s ambulance services in the capital are provide on behalf of Dublin City Council, which by extension falls in the first instance under the aegis of my colleague the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage.
I am informed that the incident enclosed with the Deputy’s question involved an emergency call handled by the DFB call centre.
More generally, the Deputy will be aware that the Programme for Government includes a specific commitment to specific commitment to implement the recommendations of the HSE/DCC Joint Ambulance Service Delivery, Task and Finish Group. Work towards this commitment is ongoing with a Joint NAS/DFB Emergency Ambulance Collaboration Group established in August 2024 to review current collaborative arrangements and to develop processes to implement the Task and Finish Group's approved recommendations with the aim of achieving a more integrated and improved ambulance service delivery model for Dublin.
