Civil Registration Service

Summary

The Minister referred the query about registering marriages solemnised in foreign embassies to the HSE for response.

1352. Deputy Sorca Clarke asked the Minister for Health if she is aware that the civil registration office in Tullamore, County Offaly, has advised a person seeking to register a marriage solemnised in a foreign embassy in the State that it does not have staff trained to provide this service; the training provided to HSE civil registration staff on marriages with a foreign or diplomatic element; the arrangements in place for such cases where local staff are unable to assist; and to provide a list of offices that provide this service. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy as soon as possible.
